derek jarman's gaff
what everybody goes looking for when they go to dungeness. i took this some time in summer 2006. i don't actual no what derek jarman did apart form make films, the only reason i know who his is because he lived in dungeness and people come from all over to see his house there i must really check out his films. last time i went to dungeness i found some very interesting facts about the place that i did not perversely know

Other Dungeness attractions besides Derek's House:
• The little smokery hut that does smoked fish and cheese
• The Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Light Railway
• The old lighthouse
• The beautiful beach house designed by Simon Conder Associates
• The wild desolation and barrenness of the countryside
• Carcinogenic radiation from the nuclear power station

Yes, I want to go to the fish and chip shop and the railway! Nice shot though. There is a Jarman article in this weeks (London) Time Out BTW.

Nick Sayers is this the little smokery hut you speak of?:
its all about the Railway:
i have a lot of time for the lighthouse:
the beach house:
this photo is actually called "barron dungerness"
the nuclear power station i'm a big fan of nuclear power dose it not floor your boat?
and you are of course forgetting the sound mirrors (there a hidden treat):

Derek Jarman was one of the more interesting artists to emerge in the 80's. Was his house interesting?
Rebecca Weeks (52 months ago | reply)
Fantastic perspective as always Kev.
lomokev (52 months ago | reply)
TedSher from the out side its black and and has yellow windows as for the inside i don't know because its someone's house i keep a respectful distance
Nick Sayers (52 months ago | reply)
Ah yes, I'd forgotten about the sound mirrors, although they're mostly north of Dungeness. Hadn't seen that massive arc wall one – will check that out next time I go. As for the smokery, no, that's not it. It's a little wooden shack with a guy who sells smoked fish and cheese. Check it out!

Its a statement of the edge
And of Life
That cells are killed
Are drilled by HIV
Its viral knife
So Derek gathers
By the scatters before he dies
And lives by his last arts
And a courage that he had tells no lies ...

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Prospect Cottage and all things Derek Jarman, and we'd love to have this added to the group, and the blizzard one would make a nice comparisson in the pool.
BTW, what is a 'sound mirror'?
