Splittie Still Life
An early 1960's Volkswagen Van, sits abandoned in the woods of Connecticut.
It always kills me to see one of these in this condition.

I love that it has a plant growing out of it, the logical and entropical (is that a word?) extention of the flower on the dashboard

Yes, this is flowerpower taken a little too far. Sad to see it in this state but at least it makes a great photo.

I had a '62 just like this. Sad but at least you have given it a part in a work of art.

But it sure makes for a beautiful picture! Its merged, overrun, become organic matter. An ingrown van. The leaves covering the window are also reflected in it, the paint has taken on the texture of bark, the bumper's become another resting treebranch. Suddenly you become aware of the birdlike front face, the eyes perched asides an alert beak, a dash of red rust suggesting a sharp bite. It's just pretending to be asleep.
What a find!

i was stuck in a snow storm leaving Aspen and heading to San Frisco. I fell in love and in a bus like that and i don't believe that bus ever toughed the ground.

Don't let the thought of a car mouldering away quietly in the woods bother you. First of all, it's classic Americana. Second, it's a source of parts for some other 'Wagen still runnin' and rollin' somewhere. (Did you know that that happy car stimulus thingy they did takes the old cars and scraps them? I drive an 80's dinosaur, for which parts can be scarce...I think it was an evil plan to get the poor folk out of their gas-guzzlers, but it's put a crimp in my style because I'm REALLY impoverished. I couldn't go turn my beast in and take the 2 grand (or however much) and buy just 2 grand's worth of slightly better poopbox...ya had to buy a new car. Hence car payment, which I can't afford. I loathe when the Man gets meddling with my life...) Third, it's irresistible photographic fodder... I'll grant ya, it's bittersweet, but not completely tragic. Ya know?

whoops, I think I'm confuzzled as to make. Whatev, the thought is still sound. ;-)
