PHL, Baggage Claim, Terminal B, March 16

This was the scene of Terminal B baggage claim. This was one of EIGHT sections like this for Terminal B alone.

I made my connection from Burlington to Philadelphia, but the 10:15 AM Philadelphia flight left the gate almost an hour late. By the time we started to taxi, the sleet/ice had just begun. No planes were allowed to take off, but they kept letting planes land. After four hours of waiting, I used my cell phone to reserve a car and a room in Philly.

All the gates quickly filled up. There were lots of empty planes at the gates, and lots of full planes on the tarmac. The pilot begged the station manager and the Chief Pilot in PHL to please get the empty planes moved (which they finally decided was a good idea a couple hours later). We were let off the plane at 6:30 PM.....we had sat on the plane for eight hours. (Thanks for nothing US Airways.)

I went to baggage claim and looked for my baggage for about an hour, but decided to go to the Hertz counter so I wouldn't lose my car reservation. Got the car (a nice 4WD as luck would have it) went to the hotel to check in to be sure I had my room, then headed back to the airport to find my bag. After waiting in a couple lines for an hour or so, then searching on my own, I finally found my bag around 10:00PM.
