light.
What motivates people to keep on going? Day in, day out.
Struggling for so much of it. Mired in shittiness for a good portion of it.
I think it's light.
Simple as that.
The sun or something.
There is always a bit of hope in the light.
It gives life.
Some people might confuse God for light. Or some folks see the two as the same thing.
Fish and creatures in the darkest, coldest depths of the sea make their own light.
Trees and flowers twist their bodies toward the sun.
Photographers and artists and seek it and obsess over it.
There is life in the light.
My mom keeps her front door open when the weather permits.
She doesn't live like a hermit crab in the darkness.
She keeps the light in her life whenever and wherever possible.

Dancing wears her out.
When we got home from the park today, before I had even unbuckled her from the carseat, she started shaking her hips and saying "wiggle, wiggle, wiggle," in the mostly incoherent way a 23-month-old talks. I knew exactly what she wanted, though.
We came inside, and she went to the computer, grabbed the mouse and started saying with urgency, "I know it, I know it, I know it!"
So I loaded up LMFAO's incredibly inappropriate Sexy and I Know It song on Youtube. Had to click through the "yes I am 18 years old" disclaimer thing to get there. One minute in, she insisted on stripping her shirt off to dance.
I obliged.
Does this make me a good, or bad mother?
Either way, she had a nice nap in the kitchen about 30 minutes later.
