I just watched the documentary movie on DVD “Exit Through The Gift Shop” by famous UK street artist Banksy the day before.
It is the story about Thierry Guetta, a French immigrant living in LA who shot a lot of films on street artists and he finally becomes one himself.
At the end of the movie, Thierry Guetta achieved huge success in his first art show and sold his works for million dollars in just a few days.
If turning pro and selling your photographic works or services in a competitive consumer market is tough, please consider making yourself an artist.
Once you are made into an artist or claimed to be an artist, your work is no longer priced according to the rules set in a consumer market. A photograph can be sold probably at Euro $5 million because it is going to a museum or the private arts collection of a wealthy businessman.
Nobody can decide whether you are an artist or a great artist. It is just you!
My description today has nothing to do with my picture taken at BCIT Aerospace campus last weekend.
P.S. Arts is no longer for the sake of arts. Arts is always for the sake of money. Sometimes arts is for the sake of fame. But ultimately fame is for the sake of money. Once your beautiful work end up in the museum, you can only exit through the gift shop!
