Tanzania HIV/AIDS project
DOW is working on the integration of HIV-related services into primary healthcare, in close collaboration with the teams of the three rural districts, and in line with national policy. In 2009, the project was extended to four new sites for starting antiretroviral (ARV) treatment. It has now been developed in 16 centres. This enables improved access to healthcare, particularly for children, and better compliance with HIV treatment, even in remote areas. The project has now spread to include the regions of Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar.
