I had a day off today so went for a walk through AH Reid Park which is just around the corner from where I live.Only 4 people were around, great to see overseas people visiting our beautiful country.
This area is known as the tree canopy.Walking through here feels as if the trees are surrounding you, protecting and shielding you. We are so fortunate to be surrounded by such beauty in New Zealand and to be able to feel safe walking round on your own.
This park is named after A H Reed, a well-known New Zealand author, publisher and long distance walker. A H Reed was a significant player in protecting the falls from quarrying and retaining the kauri trees in the forest. The bush is a magnificent remnant of the original kauri forests, which were once extensive throughout Northland.
