Koensayr BTL-A4 Y-Wing

Koensayr BTL-A4 Y-Wing

This is the Finemolds' model I built for the "Ghost" photograph. Building phase was very enjoyable after a long, I mean looooong break from building anything of the sort. It is straight-from-the-box, as they say, only I did not use the decals that came with the kit, I painted them on instead. The markings are nondescript for the Gold Squadron, the asymmetrically placed yellow stripe on the left engine pod is a nod to the "Red Jammer".

Heeere's Bossk!

Heeere's Bossk!

Well, now, Boba needs a pal. So, I made another Japanese typography inspired picture with Bossk. I just had to. :D

Heeere's Boba!

There's something about Japanese aestethics I have always liked very much, especially typography. I do not know any Japanese, though, and attempting anything like this is a bit risky. Still, with Wikipedia and essential guidance from a friend, I got this far, It should read something close to Boba Fett. If not, please let me know and I'll edit accordingly.

ALTERNATIVE FRAME: The ”Ghost”

ALTERNATIVE FRAME: The ”Ghost”

There were clouds in the sky when I was shooting this, the sun kept hiding behind clouds from time to time, and some of the alternatives I took were shot in hazed sunlight. From this angle the Y-wing is not that recognizable and the blend with real background is a bit dull, not much really happens there, the fighter does not sit nearly as naturally as in the originally uploaded version. Yet, I like this frame, too. It looks cold.

The ”Ghost”

The ”Ghost”

Hey, look what I found parked in the woods!

The Koensayr BTL Y-wing starfighter is brilliant, I just love the stripped design of it, this is the Finemolds 1/72 scale model kit version of the thing. I had the kit stuffed in a cupboard for quite some time before I had the nerve (and the time) to give a crack at it. I bought some modelling magazines to refreshen the building skills I've not used much in a very long time. Although building the kit was fun, it was not very easy, I had to paint the thing twice because of one careless finishing layer of paint. I'm quite happy how it turned out eventually, though. The Y-wing is painted as one of the Gold Squadron, but none in particular.

I photographed this just some 50 meters from our backyard this morning. It was very, very cold, the temperature was below -20°c. I nearly froze my toes off. Seriously, I did.

This photo was influenced by the works of Michael Paul Smith and Cédric Delsaux. Also, I wanted to see if I can do something that looks real.
