Breaking In the Tauntaun

The Tauntauns, indigenous to Hoth, had to be broken in by a special group of wranglers before the Rebel Forces could use them as mounts. The breaking-in process was short but very fierce, managing it in deep snow was a task for the most skilled animal handlers in the fleet only.

I recommend to view this one large, decluttred or on black. It really gives a different [better] impression.

Hoth: The Dawn After. Alternate Version.

After the snowstorm a rising moon revealed that the Rebel Alliance's presence on Hoth was over, with only piles of destroyed Snowspeeders left behind.

The Snowtroopers were to return to their base for a good cup of hot coffee after a freezing overnight patrol shift searching for survivors.

Note: The original is a morning sun shot. There were problems with shadows and such during the shoot and I shot a lot of frames just in case. I went thru the shots from the session once more and found this. A lower key leftover that works fine as a nightshot.

Note; I saw a beautiful midwinter sun outside yesterday, and I wanted to see if I can create something like it. This is what I came up with. I also inhaled a ton of baking powder through my nostrils while doing this. It feels terrible!

Update: I made another version of this, I don't know which is better.

The DARK SIDE Darth Maul Magazine Cover

The Dark Side vol. 2. The tagline "Darthest of Them All" was all the inspiration I needed for doing this. I used it earlier in a comment for a photo and it just stuck.

Photographing the Lego Darth Maul minifig was a bit troublesome, I tried it a few times before and kept getting these nasty reflections all over. Tried too hard, I guess. For this I kept it simple, removed the hood and went for the face only.

This cover doesn't make sense, really, just silly nonsense.

Yup, that's good enough for me.

Snowtrooper Extreme Guard Duty.

Snowtroopers were a mean bunch. On Hoth, after the rebel base was cleared, they had outdoor guard duties that lasted from sunset to sunrise. The toughest of them made two shifts in a row. Voluntarily. In a howling snowstorm.

Man, they were mean!

Looks best with this.
