Lots of things have happened during this Christmas.
Me, my wife, and our daughter have been sick these days and at the same time the electricity in our house decided to punch us in the face.
It has destroyed lots of the electrical equipment we have because of obvious conduction of the electrical system.
And while I was taking a shower a few days ago, I noticed the water "tickled" me. Arrrr, that's seriously scary!
So, for a few months, we have moved to our summer house down by the ocean, not far from our home.
And this is the sight that met me this morning!
We don't normally see this big waves on this side of the country, so I had to document it. It has been really stormy the last weeks, so this is traces of a storm called Dagmar.
This was truly a magnificent sight, specially when the splashes from the crashing waves magically got lit up by the rising sun.
What a world God has given us. What a beautiful nature we have. I'm so glad I have chance to capture the feelings I experience with my camera and show it to friends and family.
Happy new year everyone!

The fall is here and I’ve been planning to shoot on this location for quite some time.
This forest is called Gullkrone (golden crown) and is a beautiful forest not far from my home.
I’ve been watching the weather forecast all week and today was the day the conditions where supposed to be perfect. I wanted to capture the sun rays on a moist morning and the last few days have been perfect for these kind of shots.
This is crazy, but I almost got no sleep last night because I couldn’t stop thinking about this session. When I woke up it was very much fog outside and no sun to be seen.
But I went out anyway hoping the mist would fade so the sun could shine through the wet air and give me the sunbeams I wanted.
Sadly, this never happened… But I got to explore the area and got a couple of shots I feel good about.

The photograph
The green on this spot in the forest blew me away. So incredible vibrant colour really breathing life to the scene. I took a few shots here and I think this is the one I’m the most happy with. Maybe I will take the same shot with rays one day? :)

This is the result of an image I’ve had in mind for quite some time.
It was taken on the same night as my last upload and I’d been waiting for the rain to fill up this field.
I pass this place everyday when I cycle to work. Sometimes I’ve seen blue sparks coming from the cables and I hoped for this to happen this night.
After some research I found out that this only happens when it’s very cold and frost appears on the cables. But I decided to go out and shoot anyway because this place only get filled with water once or twice a year.
The water actually flows across the road and cars have to drive very slowly so the water doesn’t stop they’re engines.
I knew when the train was about to come and I came a while before to be able to set my composition and exposure first. About 10 seconds after I was satisfied with my composition and exposure values the train arrived. Lucky me!

I’m a lucky man.
I am…

I had thousands of pictures on my computer, but I have never been good with backups.
Soon I was about to learn my lesson.
My computer has been working slowly lately and two days after I shot this particular image, my PC crashed. No response what so ever!
The day before this day, our laptop fell on the floor and got broken also.
Bad luck, he?

Suddenly I was without any computer and I feared I had lost all my photos.
So I made a quick decision and drove to our local apple store and fulfilled a dream of mine.
I am now in possession of a brand new iMac 27”.
And I love to work on this thing…! 27” is pretty huge!

Yesterday I took my old computer to a PC-dude and he helped me recover ALL of my photos!
I’m a lucky man.
I am…

The photograph
It has been a very wet couple of months. It’s been raining almost constantly.
This lake you see on this photograph is not really a lake. It’s only a field, which is filled with water. I’ve been thinking about shooting on this particular spot for a while and I wanted to play with lights. So this is the result! Maybe I will print this one day?

What else
I don1t have very much time for Flickring these days, but I will be back! We are also planning to renovate our house in a few months so that will also take up a lot of my time.
But I have lots of photos to upload so stay tuned!

As mentioned earlier I’m experimenting a little bit within other fields of photography these days. This is one of my first real attempts on doing a portrait with external lights.
The shot is done in my living room with a black sheet as a background.
I’ve used a home made soft box, a cheap construction lamp and the light from a window, and I’ve worked a lot on shaping the light and shadows later on in Photoshop.

The photograph
I’m very happy with the result! It was quite a lot of post processing on this one.
Skin is a difficult thing to work with I think, but this time I found a new way to work with it.
Instead of adding the skin a surface blur or such, I decreased the clarity in Camera Raw and that gave me a much more natural result.
Landscaping is still my true passion, but portraits can be fun too!
