the deep dive
a spermwhale diving into the deep, near the coastline of Kaikoura.
Spermwhales are the deepest diving mammels. They are able to reach 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) deep and remain submerged for 90 minutes. The whale lifts its flukes high out of the water as it begins a dive.
