A haunting whistle. The clickity-clack of wheels on twin ribbons of steel. The intrigue of traveling the same tracks miners, cowboys and settlers of the old west took over a century ago. With billows of steam huffing from its authentic, coal-fired engine, the old 486 iron horse meanders through Colorado's stunning and remote wilderness on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.

This is wonderful. I had no idea you were in Durango. I lived and worked there for many years and never rode the fabulous narrow gauge train. The shot is perfection.

When my son was 2 until he was 8, he lived for trains and we visited steam train locations all over the world. He knew as much as kid could know about locomotives and would even get invited to sit with the drivers on occasions. Your photos bring back memories of those innocent and wide eyed days when I can remember the excitement on a little boy's face. Your steam train photos are wonderful.
