Sydney Cove - early 1950s
Sydney's Circular Quay in the early 1950s. The high-rise transformation began when the warehouses and woolstores were replaced from about 1957, and the ship on the right was built in 1949. This image was scanned from a commercially sold slide.
The two larger ferries are South Steyne (1938) and Curl Curl or Dee Why (1927-28). The ship on the right is either Changsha or Taiyuan (1949).
Fred's family's first arrival in Sydney was at West Circular Quay - on the right.
