good morning world

good morning world

I know, I know, it's just a quirky plastic camera, but I couldn't resist adding to my stash of lomography-type cameras so I bought a Sprocket Rocket. Just put my first roll of film through it and learned a valuable lesson: use the correct knob to wind the film. I started out using the correct one but then I made a mistake and used the re-wind knob because it is close to the window that shows the white dot that marks your next frame. oops. So half of my roll is double exposures and not necessarily good ones. We'll see.

I hopped in my car and drove up to Baker Rd in Sherwood, just a couple miles from my house, to catch the sky and the little bump of a Mt Hood.

I hope it won't be too long before the Oregon City Bridge reopens after its restoration work.

Restoration of a bridge

Restoration of a bridge

On a very foggy morning this past week I went to Oregon City to check out the restoration of the bridge. It's the main bridge that connects West Linn to Oregon City without having to get on the main highway. It's been a long process. I'm sad to learn that they have to replace the old historic railing.
The observation tower houses the elevator to take you down to the main part of town. There is an elevator operator inside sitting behind a plexi-glass screen. I asked her about the elevator and she said 600-700 people use the elevator each day. She knows because she counts. I wonder how many books he reads in a day while going up and down?

Please don't take my Kodak away

Please don't take my Kodak away

My husband found this old Kodak display stand at an antique shop for $5.00. I love it.
The book is "Kodachrome: 64x64: farewell to Kodachrome" by Phil Coomes. Phil posted a photo a day for 64 weeks to Flickr taken with Kodachrome. His wonderful book can be purchased through Blurb. For those of you who mourn the death of Kodachrome this book will bring back fond memories.
I read that Kodak is thinking of spending their efforts on inkjet printers. BOO. I wish they'd re-issue the Kodak box camera in a 21st century way. All those Lomography users would flock to buy a retro Kodak brown box. Come on Kodak, put on your thinking caps.
Keep Kodak alive.

camera: Hasselblad 500 CM with polaroid back
film: Fuji FP-100c because there is no Kodak instant film!
