Princess

Princess

once upon a time we fell apart.
you're holding in your hands
the two halves of my heart.

I just wanted to say thank you. Getting that last photo explored yesterday was amazing! :) I am so blessed to have met so many of you and gotten to experience with you through your art and writing. I hope to continue on flickr as long as I am able and I'm happy to say this 52 weeks project has been such a blessing to me and my art. Thank you.

On another note, I WILL be doing some more "princessy" work. I want some ideas and names of princesses that you all would like to see in the future. Although this one isn't a Disney princess or any that anyone knows, I've gotten to feel a little bit like one which is every little girl's dream.

Yesterday was also awesome because I planted two terrariums for my room, picture in comments :)

OOPS. I just realized I didn't add in fog for the ones in comments....Sorry I just killed that fantasy, but fog is fickle in Texas. Some mornings when it is supposed to be there it dissapears (like yesterday) and when it's not it makes itself so thick you can't see the headlights coming from a car less than 10 feet in front of you. It took me over 25 minutes to get to school that morning when it usually takes 10.

Fairytales {Explored.}

Fairytales {Explored.}

...and they all lived happily ever after.

I have a tiny obsession with fairytales. I know those two words don't work side by side at all, but I love them. A lot. I've seen all the Disney movies and now I'm watching Once Upon a Time every Sunday night religously. They just facinate me and make me believe in happy endings.

That's what we all wanted as little kids. To believe in something where good triumphs over evil and the princess finds her prince charming. I know it doesn't always happen that way, but I like to believe that everything will always work itself out--no matter what happens. Now, that doesn't mean I EVER want to be the "damsel in distress" but I don't mind letting someone else save me every once and a while.

I stumbled upon this quote by Albert Einstein this week:
"If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.”
And I completely agree. Between Bible stories and Fairytales my kids are going to read a lot of books. :)

EXPLORED.

I might add some photos in the comments later today.

On a side note, there is a main bridge just next to this old one. As the sun started to rise and more people made their way to work, I started getting some stares and honks. From every. single. car. that. passed. by. It was...interesting.

***I'm also thinking of doing a princesses set building off of this.....yes or no?

if you love someone,
you love them all the same.

I put this up on facebook earlier this week and have decided I like it enough to put it into this set. I was "freelensing"--a skill I acquired from looking at Grace Adam's tumblr. If you get the chance, go over there and take a look. What she writes is pretty magnificent.

Valentine's day is coming pretty fast now. I wouldn't have realized it if I hadn't seen people complaining about it all over facebook. I've found that most people have come to hate the holiday that is all about love--even if Saint Valentine was beheaded. Ironic right?

Well either way, I think it's funny how much people have been whining about it. So what if you're single. I'm single and I'm not complaining. That doesn't mean I always want to be single though ha. But, who says that it has to be about a "significant other"? I love my family, I love my friends. Can that be enough?

I like the idea of Valentine's day because it means spending some extra time with the people I care about most. I'll be making cookies to give to some of my friends that day at school. My sister, Morgan, my Mom and I will be watching some sappy girly movies while eating just about anything we can cover in chocolate. Sounds like a perfect day to me. :)

Morgan and I spent last night working a parent's night out which gave me extra service hours for nhs. It was a blast! I loved the kids and getting to play with and love on them. It's been a pretty wonderful weekend so far and tonight I am most likely going to see The Vow. I love me some Channing Tatum. :) Even if he is married.......

Always You

Always You

i wait in the rain
but i don’t complain
because i wait for you.

No, this isn't about someone special. You'd know if I had one ;).
But besides that it's been a miraculously wonderful super spectacular year.

What happens when you who you are, is who you've wanted to be all along? Yes I know I still need loads of improvement--who doesnt? But I'm finally becoming me. The person I've been pushing towards. At this exact moment (multiple moments actually) I'm content with just being me. Isn't that the goal of most teenage girls? Well, ladies, I'm here to tell you it's possible. It's perfectly attainable and marvelous. Just brilliant.

It wasn't always this way, and that is an understatement in the least. In the 5th grade I was bullied to the point I went home crying often. It didn't stop there either, in fact it went through most of middle school up until high school. Although I will still shy--and a bit of a flirt--I decided to change and joined leadership. It wasn't easy considering I just about burst into tears for the first two days of the training process. And yet, I don't regret any of it. I'm looking towards being a drum major and a mentor this upcoming year. My goals are attainable and I'm shooting for them.

Why not?

I used to ask myself this question along with "what if" and a few others and I've come to realize that I can do just about anything I put my mind to. Heck. Yes.

I will most likely replace this later...maybe...

i have a tendency to love broken things.

I'm not always saying this is a bad thing. Sometimes it's wonderful, beautiful to be able to fix something and create it brand new. On the other hand, it can be painful. Some things are permanently broken or take more than what I can give.

It's like picking up shards of glass. Cutting your fingers is inevitable. I wish I wasn't always so quick to say yes and try to help everyone. But it's who I am, and I'm slowly learning when to say no.

What's that saying....If you play with fire you'll get burned? I've got enough scars to show that you need to be careful when toying with broken things.

**********

I may or may not replace this photo tomorrow. But for now, it's time to go get ready for the last showing of Anything Goes. I'll have more pictures up later of what's been going on. :)

OH! and STOP what you are doing and listen. Now. Ahora! Her new album is amazing.
