This was taken at the Bird Park on the Isle of Wight, UK. Far from perfect, but I was desperate to put a bird pic after viewing so many magnificent bird images from friends, contacts and all across the flickrsphere. Fill light in LR helped bring out the eye and the teeth a bit. Clarity once again helped me to sharpen up the softness, especially after cleaning up the noise with luminance noise reduction. I also cloned out a small protruding feather and a piece of grass on the bill.

Taken in Beijing's Tongzhou District, this river is part of the Grand Canal built to connect Hangzhou in south China to Beijing in the north. The project began in the 5th century and was completed in its present form in the 13th century. At 1 794 kilometres in length, it is the longest canal in the world.

Presently, work is furiously underway to make this area into an international convention centre and a future centre of Beijing set to rival Shanghai for modernity and glitz. It still has a way to go yet.

Although not a particularly succesful shot, due to some noise and softness of focus, I thought I would put this up to share a bit of my corner of the world with fellow flickrers. I used smart blur and luminance noise reduction to combat the choppy pixelisation in the sky and river and clarity to counter the softness of the image.

This photo was taken on Gulang Islet (Gulang Yu), part of the city of Xiamen in Fujian, China.

Tried to squeeze a macro-like shot out of my Nikkor 18-55mm lens with this close-up of a flower. Cropped for maximum scale. Detail in this image isn't spectactular and there is a bit of noise, but I liked how the lighting worked here (no flash applied). The original version looked better in lightroom and the dynamic range of lighting seemed to get flattened slightly after uploading to flickr. I Probably also lost some definition as the maximum aperture on this was F 5.66 due to zooming and an f-stop setting of F14. Any suggestions or tips in this regard would be highly appreciated!
