She may only be having a scratch whilst bathing but somehow she reminds me of the poor woman in the shower scene from the horror movie Psycho!

This one makes me smile because I just love the way the parent looks so proud of the two youngsters!

The shot below of a Jackdaw in the rain makes me just want to give it a hug and take it inside for a cup of hot cocoa :)

Both parent and youngster in these shots give me a huge grin for so many different reasons! It was the Summer of 2010 and the first time I had the opportunity to observe Song Thrushes with their youngsters and to top it all off it was all happening in my garden! There is something about baby birds, whatever the species, that just makes me smile but these little sweethearts just have to have extra points for their cuteness factor! The only one of these photos that I've ever posted before is the bottom one and I gave it the title 'When I grow up I wanna be THIS big!' Smiles to you all on this sunny but cold Sunday morning :)

Continuing my series of 'Photos that make me smile' I have chosen some of an adorable family of young Bullfinches who I was privileged to have visiting my garden in the Spring of 2010. There were at least 4 siblings and needless to say they were a pure delight to watch and photograph, and I think I had a smile permanantley on my face when I was in their presence!

The main photo here is a lovely portrait shot of one of the youngsters, but it's the two shots below that give me the biggest smile. They show one youngster, who was being pestered by another, passing a seed to it to shut it up...such a wonderful moment to witness, and I was so thrilled to have captured it on camera even if the photos may not be the best :)

Here one of the young male Bullfinches, who was beginning to get his wonderful reddish/ pink plumeage, was happily feeding when a Nuthatch suddenly flew in and landed on the feeder...to this day I'm not sure who was the most suprised by this event the Bullfinch or me, as I had never had a Nuthatch in my garden before! Once again it was one of those magical moments when I just happened to have my camera on and fortunately pointing in the right direction!
