Jumping spider - Aelurillus v - insignitus (Portrait)

Jumping spider - Aelurillus v - insignitus (Portrait)

Here is a shot of Aelurillus v - insignitus male jumping spider. I really have been wanting to find the male of this species!!! These jumping spiders are terribly fast. You can find them only on sunny days at sandy places or forest traverses. But there are more females than males. Last summer was lucky with both, females and males...

The difference between female and male jumping spiders is very visible, because males have dark body and v-shaped rows of hairs on its head. Females have grey body color with wide head and different strips on head than male. Males have much more intensive green color eyes than females also.

Jumping spiders are one of the most incredible creatures in the world of arachnids and arthropods. If you like nature and macro world look for these creatures and you will see what they can, how they behave. Jumping spiders have very good sight and can see everything around itself. Also they react to the near movement by moving its head to that place. :) Try to imagine that...

These spiders are about 4–7mm in length.

This is a single image taken at about F11 or F16 with a Pentax 28mm lens reversed on some extension tubes...

Female jumping spider - Aelurillus v-insignitus (portrait)

Female jumping spider - Aelurillus v-insignitus (portrait)

Here is a shot of a beautiful female jumping spider. Last summer was quite lucky for me with these little jumpers. ;) I didn't see any of these creatures before, so it was quite interesting to look how they behave...
They have such nice white strips near the eyes and quite intense color hairs. ;) Of course it's not so beautiful as male jumping spider which have v-shaped rows of hairs on its head... But I took some good quality photos of them also. I will add them a bit later, when I will have some more time...

These spiders are about 4–7mm in length.

This image is manually focus stacked of about 5 images taken at about F5.6 with a Pentax 28mm lens reversed on some extension tubes...

Dead dunes

Dead dunes

Last summer I visited one of the most beautiful Lithuania area called Kursiu Nerija National Park. It's really unique place and it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. I have visited Kursiu Nerija a few times before. But last time I discovered really remarkable place to visit. It's the Dead dunes which left a big impression for me. I've never thought that Lithuania have such a beautiful places like this, where sand is everywhere. And you always can see a flowing sand all around. And there are much sand waves, curves and other amazing shapes, which is always change its position. ;)

Spider - Philodromus margaritatus (Mimicry)

Spider - Philodromus margaritatus (Mimicry)

Here is a shot of nice mimicry. Last time when I found such an interesting mimicry spider was a few years ago. But this species of spider was different than before, I've never seen white/blue/green color spider. It's not very common to see this kind of species here... I'm always fascinated of these creatures and their ability to vanish in the background. I found it on the trunk of the birch...

I took this shot with CanonEOS40D photo camera + Sigma MACRO 150mm F2.8 lens.
This is a single shot taken at F11

Also I took some shots of its portrait, but I will add those shots later...

Grasshopper - Tettigoniidae sp.

Grasshopper - Tettigoniidae sp.

I found this grasshopper in the wild field. It was just sloughed off, with beautiful green color...
I made a few shots, but in many of them light looks too harsh for me, because it was very sunny day. But this one I made by using flash with home-made flash diffuser.
I was without tripod, so I needed to carry camera in the right and flash with diffuser in the left hand. ( Try to imagine how I looked like ;)...)
But, despite too small sharpness zone and strange composition I think I got something :)

I took this shot with CanonEOS40D photo camera + CanonEF100mmMacroUSM lens.
