Pt Robinson Lighthouse HDR 4155

Newer Older

Last week we had a fast moving late summer storm blow through and I saw the interesting clouds in the sky when I got off of work. I decided to hop on the Vashon Island ferry to capture this lighthouse in HDR. I have a previous photo here in my photo stream from last fall shot with my old Canon Power Shot.
Anyways, I knew that this is the most pleasing angle for this lighthouse as Mt Rainier sits between the lighthouse and the oil shed (see notes). I have also been wary of posting the shots from this day as most of the photos shot with my 18-55mm lens wound up with the lighthouse leaning! I have not yet figured out how to straighten the lighthouse in Photoshop, so I decided to crop one of my wider shots and I am pleased with the results. I have a great sunset shot where the sky cleared up and there is a wonderful glow on Mt Rainier. That is where I need to straighten the leaning Pt Robinson. I did hang out for over 4 and a half hours just to get the sunset shot after taking this photo. What we photogs go through for our art!
Pt Robinson Lighthouse is a twin of the Alki Point Lighthouse located in West Seattle. The same lighthouse builder built this from the same plans, as it was unnecessary to alter what already worked as a functional design. Lime Kiln Point Lighthouse, located in the San Juan Islands, has basically the same design as well.
Thank you for your visits, comments and faves on my photo stream. I appreciate it. Thank you to all of my Flickr friends for your inspiration.
