Minarets – Ediza Lake – Ansel Adams Wilderness

This is a scene I captured in 2009. Back then I processed a three-shot HDR version, which after recently reviewing, I decided that I was not happy with the final image. Back then, I had very minimal Photoshop skills, and I thought HDR would be the best way to process the shot.

As I have now developed a workflow using Adobe Raw, I decided to re-process this single image. Final tweaks were still performed in Photoshop.

A 6.5 mile hike is required to access this Sierra Wilderness gem. The destination makes the hard work worth it, as you arrive at Ediza Lake, idyllically nestled below Mt. Ritter, Mt. Banner and The Minarets.

I am not currently posting images as frequently, only because I would rather catch up more with commenting. I hope to have more time for Flickr soon.

Your work is breathtaking! That's interesting that you've gone from HDR to this one shot in Raw. I've heard many people in my Photo Club talking about using Raw images. I haven't done this yet.

    Thanks David

"You should do more landsacpe, Paul. This quality composition and exposure rivals the best out there. "
I do - but I slow down uploading due to ongoing piracy in Flickr.
I've deleted over 2200 HQ images last December.
My images have been found in eBay, on Asian and Russian sites - illegal sold there
though I've resized to 1024x maximum.
Now I let only the 1st image for one or 2 days on 1024x - then again resize it to 640x and replace it.

    Beware!
You upload size [2048x... ] - it's suitable for commercial piracy!!!
Doesn't matter you have locked your privacy-download "only you".
The original size is available despite of this - even via public (illegal ?) special software anybody can bypass this.

Recently many picture sharing sites have been taken activities for more safety and security of their clientele because they are afraid of ACTA and SOPA - the more this happens - the more thieves are in Flickr now, downloading whatever they could grab !!!!!

This ignorant Flickr team provides some silly gimmicks instead of focusing the piracy problem here..

Belief be - each time I upload an image, I feel really unhappy and sad..

Nicely done--spent 5 days last summer traversing under the base of the Minarets from Devil's Postpile to Tuolumne Meadows. Fantastic image of a otherworldly location.

    Killer shot, David!
Amazing stuff that makes me motivated to go and shoot high up in the mountains.

I feel like I am standing on a rock in that water. The clarity is fantastic! Colors and reflection on the water are completely adored. Great work! ッ
