Badlands... | by etunar

This was taken at Bisti Badlands during sunrise. It is a totally desolate place with not much sign of life (even though there are numerous creatures living here). This place is filled with numerous weird rock formations. These are called hoodoos and formed when the rain washes away the soil (or soft rock) and only the column under a flat rock remains. This place was by far the weirdest spot I have been. Especially at night, walking amongst these hoodoos felt like a different planet. I would have loved to spend more time here.

Being a desert, light gets harsh so quickly. So you only get about half an hour of soft light around sunrise and sunset which made it challenging.
