Pine Forest Tree Planting

Students carry seedlings along a forest road to the field where they will be planted. To commemorate June 5th International Environment Day hundreds of students took part in a day of activities including the planting of several hundred trees in one of Haiti's last forests- the Pine Forest. Located nearly four hours drive from Port au Prince, the once great forest has been depleted to make room for farm land. The trees are also being felled to make charcoal for fuel and for sale.
