Horseshoe Bend Sunset

Horseshoe Bend Sunset

This is a shot I took prior to the last shot I posted of the bend. Wish I could have captured what continued in the sky above the frame -amazing.

Rushed this edit a bit, so you might see this change slightly in the days to come.

Sort of an abstract from Antelope Canyon. Sharing this simply to show how beautifully the Zeiss 21mm ZE renders things.

Antelope canyon

Here is another shot from my short road trip. I had the pleasure of shooting this one with a Zeiss 21mm ZE that a friend had rented and lent me for a few minutes.

Horseshoe bend

Horseshoe bend

Just got back from a quick road trip to the Utah-Arizona border. We left at night from Northern California and went straight there aside from a stop at Zion for a hike. By the time we reached Horseshoe we hadn't slept for about 36 hours, and had done quite a bit of hiking. Nevertheless, when we arrived and I saw that the sun was in the process of dropping under the horizon, I jetted out of the car and down the path to the cliff that overlooks this spectacular sight. This photo was actually taken just after the amazing sunset we were treated to, but I'm a sucker for the blues, so I edited this shot first.

All I can say is that this is a scene that anyone who has the chance to see definitely should. It trumps, in my opinion, most --if not all-- of the other sights I've seen here in the states. It was a little testing of my fear of heights, but seeing everyone else on the edge of the cliff eased that fear a bit, and the view made it more than worth it.

A 14mm lens on a full frame is what this scene really asks for, especially when there is a nice sunset. However, all I had was my 17-40L, so 17mm is what you're seeing here.

If any of you follow me closely, you've probably realized by now that I've given up on the 52 week project. It is just not feasible with my current schedule, but I will continue to photograph and post photos as time allows. As for the next couple of days, you will likely see a few more shots from the road trip showing up.

This is my first time editing on a macbook, rather than my usual monitor, so things might look different (for better or for worse.) Because of that, you may notice the photo changing slightly if I decide to replace it after viewing it on other monitors.

Hope you enjoy, and thank you for looking!

Bryan

EDIT: bumped the brightness and contrast after viewing on my regular monitor. May adjust it more when I have more time.
