Sailing into destiny ... closer to the heart ♥
Is there anything more cliché than this? Well, I'm sure there is but 'heart hands' rank pretty close to the top! This is Rachel with her heart hands, showing her love for the sea and me ♥. As I look at it now, of course I start philosophizing as moms will do. The title is from one of my favorite Rush songs, "Closer to the Heart."
The lyrics to the song, though sparse ... are very powerful. I'm thinking how everyone has their role ... and how Rachel's current role is that of a Corpsman. And also thinking how right this very minute, she is "sailing into destiny."
I hope she finds it.I really do.
A couple of days ago, her ship was underway for a week of training exercises. One of the sailors onboard fell ill and had to be medavaced off the ship to Balboa Hospital in San Diego. She was the Corpsman that accompanied him. It was quite an experience for her!! She is happy to report that the sailor is OK! This is just one example of her journey to find her destiny.

Yep, must be among the top 10 cliche for sure! But, as always, your cliche looks as fresh and original as it could be! Love the mood here...such a sunny, happy feel to it! The light and you aqua tones create a perfect beach atmosphere. And I like the writing on the texture...makes it look like a memory. I hope Rachel is enjoying her journey and will stay healthy and safe!

Oh man, I'm jealous. A helicopter ride. And for free. You know that people pay BIG MONEY to ride a helicopter around San Diego. I can't believe she got to do that. And she gets a free cruise as well. Now I know the food isn't "quite" as good as on those big ol' expensive cruises, and you might not get off on one beautiful Carribean Island after another, but hey, it's still a cruise, and it's still free. Sounds like she got herself a nice little gig there. Good for her. :-)

Oh.... mama..... this is so poignant, sweet, a treasure... I love hearing about her experiences in the Navy, and realizing how she is growing up, having experiences that many of us could not even imagine ourselves doing... In spite of that she'll always be your sweet girl, and this picture really illustrates that! It always brings a lump to my throat to feel your well-placed pride in both your girls ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ my BFF!
