Open your eyes to a brighter light

Thanks so much for all the wonderful birthday wishes for Jackie yesterday! It was a great day!!

♫ Blind Melon – Soul One ♫

For all of you, some beautiful Big Sur wildflowers ... a close-up of the flowers from the Big Sur Postcard. The title is from one of my all time favorites songs by Blind Melon. It doesn't have a lot to do with this image ... I just love the song, the haunting lyrics and that voice!! ♥

Happy Bokeh Wednesday!!

The petals look like cape daisies, but I only know them as garden flowers, so maybe not. But whatever they are, they're just gorgeous! The pastel colours are fantastic! Just love it.

They look like some kind of daisies to me. However, my opinions on flowers should be disregarded immediately because I am the least knowledgeable person in this hemisphere when it comes to flowers. And please notice how I refrained from exaggeration and didn't say "on this planet" or "in this galaxy". One should be really accurate when stating something these days...otherwise one could loose any credibility fast. And we don't want that to happen!

Anyhow...whatever they are, they are awfully pretty. They look much lighter here than on your postcard shot and I like just a hint of purple and blue. And, of course, I just love, love your use of texture! Glad Jackie's birthday celebration went well!

I would call them "Soul Daisies" Just because I have no idea what they are really called, and I think they are good for the soul. I love the extensive pallet of pastel goodness, and the subtle use of texture. A beautiful image accompanied by a great song...I miss Shannon Hoon! I've seen Blind Melon a bunch of times in the early 90's, but my favorite show was when I first saw them here in town at this little club. It was a small crowd, but it got wild, and I lost my shoes somehow. They blew me completely out of my shoes!!

You did something to this photo, didn't you? Come on, fess up. What did you do? I know you did something, because the last time I saw something in nature that looked something like this, I was...oh never mind about that. Lets just say that your altered state of reality looks, well, like an altered state of reality. But a very, very nice one. Without any side effects either. And I bet it's legal. Which is very good, because I don't know if you've heard about it or not, but the prisons in California are just terrible. Really overcrowded. You could end up sleeping in a cell with 15 other women. Now, that would be a bad trip.

Anyway, I sure like this shot. Are you SURE you didn't mess about it with it? Just a little bit?

I second that, these have to be African daisies or if you like an alternate common name better, my Dad called them cape daisies. He always had some in the yard, but not these lovely blue and white ones. They are to die for! You've done your usual BEAUTIFUL soft processing and this has an almost "sandy" texture if that's the right word - so evocative of the beach. I LOVE the framing with them all seeming to stretch their pretty little heads leeward! Nice bokeh work, just the way I like it, all soft and colorful without being distracting ♥ HBW!

OK, rested...I love all the colors as highlights in this: the green stems, blue petals and purple bud. I just love how you processed this, it makes for a very unique daisy image.
