Reflection on Meadow School, 1888

I spent the day at a local plant nursery in Skagit County on Best Road, my favorite in the area. They have a demonstration garden at this old one room school house from 1888. But, I was more curious about how neat it would have been to be educated in one room with the help of all ages. I think that the elder benefit from teaching the young by seeing their progress and vulnerability and the young from the elder by their experience and example. It is too bad that we box individuals by age alone.
A quote from the wall on another one room school house says: “A dead
thing goes with the stream, but only a living thing can go against
it.” unknown author
