He just wagged his tail, gave me a big lick and walked off leaving me to tidy up. Now as I write I hear him throwing the wastepaper bin in the spare room around......AAAAAAAAAAAAGH.

Oh I know that expression so well! And the piles of shredded paper - often the children's homework - partnership working?! Though my two usually take the stolen documents back to their baskets to lie in comfort while they shred. He is gorgeous though.
