So do you fear that we are about to see the second coming of Vladimir Lenin?
Templar1307 (43 months ago | reply)
Possibly. In all likelihood, it will strongly coincide with the direction and policies of Hugo Chavez of Venezuela.
If you thought your civil rights were in jeopardy during the 8 years of the Bush Administration .. you're in for a surprise.

I sure never heard BHO say he would recind the Patriot Act.
We are in for a wild ride.
Templar1307 (43 months ago | reply)
My estimation is that every time they want to lay a new burden on us, they'll say that it is our patriotic duty to do this and that ... like mandatory finger printing for all Americans, Federal ID cards (papers), loss of the secret ballot in Unions, loss of privacy in most areas of our life, etc.
The Socialist Democrats now get they're historic opportunity to fully dismantle this great and wonderful nation.

Hey, he's my President-Elect too. I really am just hoping for the best. I love my country. We all do. As American's we'll just need to support him as a united mass .. but at the same time keep an eye on him and his fellow travelers in Congress.

Templar,
I hesitate to make political comments on Flickr, because I just want to enjoy photography here without ruffling feathers, but I support your concerns. I have you as a contact because I like your travel photos. I didn't know what your political views were. I'm glad to see that you see the truth here. Obama has Socialist beliefs. Socialism has a terrible track record in the world. Don't back down from your message. For any that disagree with this, that's fine. Deliver your reasoned arguments on why you like Socialism, or why you think Obama isn't a Socialist, don't simply throw insults around. Everyone has a right to their opinion.
LMurphyNC (43 months ago | reply)
Obama = Stalin...anyone that gets in his way will be crushed...god that makes me SICK! Obama supports and is supported by the worst of the worst.
Mark my words...the South will rise again!
christian jackson (43 months ago | reply)
The south will rise again??? Stalin?? Are you kidding me?
So you are saying the majority of Americans are the "worst of the worst"? That's a pretty grim assessment of your fellow Americans and your president elect.
Dr. Slogan (43 months ago | reply)
It's still ok if he turnes out to be a new Lenin. The biggest fear is that yesterday the country elected a new Joseph Stalin or Mao.
Templar1307 (43 months ago | reply)
I'm sure that the Germans who voted for Hitler and the Nazi party in 1932 were good people who only wished for better times. Unfortunately for them and their country, they got the exact opposite in return.
President-elect Obama will be soft compared to most Socialist leaders. We'll see more nationalizing of banks and other institutions, but by and large, the people themselves will be safe. Poor, but safe.
LMurphyNC (43 months ago | reply)
the worst of the worst being the terrorist of the world ...my pres elect...thats a big FU**IN JOKE!...you can now go away and suck up to your new president chrisjackson!

Oh and he's your president...not mine.

Hitler was a sociopath who preached anti-semitism from day one. Don't minimize what he did by throwing his name around and drawing false comparissons.
The nationalization of American banks began in September with the collapse of Wall Street. It has taken place under the Bush administration. If you're a rank-and-file Republican, fine. But at least don't lie.
Templar1307 (43 months ago | reply)
I'm actually an Independent. As for Hitler, I was referencing the voting American & German public.
You need to read my words more carefully. The scam financial crisis and what it has wrought will be all the impetus that Obama needs to further the nationalization of American utilties and companies. Perhaps once he bankrupts the energy providers, the Federal Gov't will step in and take them. You wait and see. Just don't say that I didn't warn anybody. The government will own it all before it is over and done with.
workingonmyportraits (43 months ago | reply)
How arrogant. I read your words carefully. You suggested that Americans, like Germans who voted for Hitler, have elected a candidate who has charmed them but will eventually lead them into disaster. Again, that's a grossly inaccurate comparison.
Again, the nationalization of banks began under Bush. That much we know. What we don't know is what Obama will do, and you can't predict that.
Templar1307 (43 months ago | reply)
We'll just have to see. Many of us are skeptical of such a person espousing such hard-leftist positions. Time will only tell. I wish him the best & hope that he is guided more by the Constitution, the Bill of Rights & the vision of our Founding Fathers, than by the philosophies of Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels & Vladimir Lenin.
I pray that all of us truth seekers are wrong about him. I love my country. I have served my country in the US Navy and will continue to believe in its 200+ year mission of Freedom, Liberty & the individual's Right to pursue of his or her Happiness.

I served my country too but, in many respects, my country didn't appreciate much of what I and 300,000 other young men did back in the years; 1964 to 1974. (officially 1969 to 1975). For many years the mere word "Vietnam" was kept in a closet or swept under a rug......along with the thousands who served, gave their lives and their limbs.
Templar - I agree with some of what you say and disagree with some of what you imply. I, like you, consider myself an independent but as far as steadfastly advocating free rein on big business, corporate America and the Super Rich, this is where we part ways. Primarily it was big business and the super rich who got us into this God-awful financial mess that we are in. In one word; GREED. To imply that Big Government should back off and continue to allow Big Business a free hand, is to put it mildly, economic suicide. Corporate America has become a living, breathing entity of and in itself..... and the fat and greedy CEOs, CFOs, etc and their cronies on the corporate boards have one and only one purpose in their minds - profits and putting more money into their own pockets. The funny thing is (actually not too funny at all) is that these same greedy people are cutting their own throats by demanding exorbitant profits while cutting their work force, throwing people out in the street (and out of their houses - albeit some people should never have bought into these sub-prime loans in the first place).
Bottom line; if the unemployment rate of primarily middle class Americans is running 7% and rising monthly who in the hell is going to be able to afford to buy their product and/or service? ...... and when pharmaceutical companies are marking up the price of some of their drugs 300 to 375% as health care costs continue to climb through the roof (all because of corporate greed), then I can't say that government should simply sit back and allow corporate America to have a free hand. Corporate America hasn't, isn't and will not "deliver us from evil" but rather, Corporate America and it's (their) insatiable greed for more money and more power is, to a large extent, what got us into the mess we are in.

I agree that there is great corruption in our marketplace. Perhaps as long as there has been business, there has been wholesale mischief. The belief that big business and their CEOs are bad people who manipulate the market and take advantage of the workers and others is a central tenet of Socialism. From this we they feel that the only way to reign in the corruption is to manage it entirely either through massive regulation or nationalization.
The problem that I have with this, is that firstly, the government is incapable of running most anything and as they are perpetually grasping fro more power and authority, they will surely over step their bounds, whereby privacy and the free market are destroyed.
The government is complicit in this crisis. It is my opinion that this market meltdown was coordinated and perpetrated by both sides of our political spectrum in Washington. It is by this Shock Doctrine, that they will be entitled to gain more control over our daily lives.
We've seen this before .. the USS Maine, Pearl Harbor, Gulf of Tonkin, September 11th, etc.
When in crisis mode, the American people will allow most anything. Each time we give up some of our civil liberties, how often are they swiftly returned?
I'm only asking people to be aware and vigilant. To be ever mindful never to blindly give up those rights which for the time being are guaranteed by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
(The) Appleman (43 months ago | reply)
templar
- Very well put my friend. I have to agree
wholeheartedly as to the complicity of the
government in this financial crisis. Yes,
there is corruption (and stupidity) on both
sides of the subject fence. I suppose the
crux of any issue is that the pendulum tends
to swing either too far to the left or too
far to the right. If we (the people of the
United States, as well as the world) are
concerned, are ever going to get our houses
in order, everyone needs to strive for a sense of balance and
fairness......... I don't know if we can, as
humans, ever come close to achieving this??
Am I being naive? Am I searching for a
utopian world that does not and cannot exist?
Yes, we must be vigilant as you say.
BTW - your graphic, although very well done (digitally) is, perhaps a bit "over the top"..........but it did serve well for inciting this "riot" on the flickr site, huh. As a matter of fact "graphics" were used quite effectively back in 1939 - and in the subsequent years leading up to the establishment of fascism and Nazi Germany.

Just to let you know get your guns while you can if you are a collector or hunter. The new administration will try to take this right away from us. Wait and see we will go from citizen to subject.

We need to learn from past mistakes, not repeat them. Make wise choices, and above all do it as a unified country. It’s time to re-read our Declaration of Independence and find out where we lost it! Remember this part; “Provide for the common Defense “AND” Promote the General Welfare”. Can we do this without stupidly falling prey too greedy special interest groups on the Left or Right?
I believe in the wisdom of the majority of Americans who are freedom and liberty loving, wise to all this opinionated propaganda. Old Nineteenth / Twentieth Century political stereotypes won’t solve this current dilemma we find ourselves. If this country survived Bush & Cheney without turning into a right wing dictatorship, then it will handle anything Obama can throw at it. This is the first step, let open dialog and common sense prevail.

those were the same things we were worried about loosing to Bush and his Neocon crowd.
Templar1307 (43 months ago | reply)
Hi Puck90. You are absolutely right about Bush. They employed the Shock Doctrine to sweep them out of our hands. Even if we'd stood up and fought back, they would have told us that we were being unpatriotic.
They sure got away with being able to pry into our personal lives.
I personally do not believe that our government .. Republican or Democrat has the ability or desire to properly manage itself .. nor our marketplace. It surely will be laughable once they start managing our health care and so on. It will be twice as bankrupt and corrupt as Social Security.

not sure what country you are refering too...but here ..there is a thing called freedom of speech. Now how about you try coming back in with a better attitude.
wlmcmullen (43 months ago | reply)
Wow….Gun Girl and Templar it must be so painful to live in so much FEAR. Set your mind free, open your racist mind. In America, people are allowed to express love. I’m so sorry that you aren’t able to express these feelings in your country.
It feels so good when you open your racist mind. It feels so good! Like an orgasm. I promise you. The more open your mind the better the orgasms!!!!!!!!!!! Try it. I was once a very Republican child, a fearful racist and now I’m set free. I’m white, my husband is white, but we’re free!
Sorry that you are both so impudent or frigid. Yes, sorry GunGirl that the only orgasms you have are from shooting guns. I’m sorry for you because sex is so awesome, orgasms are so awesome. But you conservatives are all constipated. You can’t poop, you can’t come. What a horrible life for you all.
And by the way, Screw you people saying "freedom of speech", it's HATE SPEECH, NOT “freedom of speech”---it’s the inability to have an orgasm…and anything else is just hate speech, racism, and above all else FEAR. It’s a lot of BS you’re spewing. Anyone intelligent and educated enough will see through your BS. Go to college, learn something. Yes, maybe you have to go as far as a Masters or a PhD. but you must READ and study as much as possible. I am a librarian. I don't know what it is about us librarians but to be a librarian means that you are liberal, free, open minded and peaceful. Give us a break with your crap about Obama and Socialism. YOU can't be in AMERICA if you are saying this crap-----WE, the American's-----even people like me----Euro-American, Irish, German, Mutt-Americans have suffered HUGELY under BUSH. Leave us alone you jerks. Leave us alone to be happy for OBAMA and all people of color. I'm as white as white can be. I support people of color and the glory of their divine success. You people----templar1308---and all of you who betray your people of color are complete jerks and traitors. Why attack Obama? GunGirl----just collect more guns because I'm sure you're just listening to stupid, creepo RUSH Limbo----Get some education. It's not that hard. Listen, I'm from a poor, Pennsylvanian working class family. My poor, working class parents were Republicans just like yours. I've been liberated. I don't want their life or your life of narrow-minded racism. They said I couldn't get an education because I was destined to be a white slave to a factory like my parents. I said NO, I freed myself from the indoctrination of fear, hate, discrimination and racism. Mend your ways, get an EDUCATION, I beg of you. Just get an EDUCATION and you will be FREE at last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Templar1307 (43 months ago | reply)
Hi wlmcmullen, I'm sure you must realize how you must look when you write such vitriolic stuff. No one here has even mentioned the colour of Obama's skin. I have made no mention whatsoever of it. So, where can anyone get the idea that I am a racist? Aside from my worries concerning his hard-leftist politcal leanings, I think that it is very exciting to have a black President. We'll half black anyways. It is about time. I'm still waiting for the first Jewish President! =)
Anyhow, I wish that you could have joined the conversation. There is no talking with some people, I suppose.
Speaking of reading, may I recommend that you specifically pick this one up at some point near in the future.
Have a nice day. =)

Well you know that the political center has taken over the steering wheel now because both those far right and far left extremists have damn near put us off the road and into the ditch. The next 50 years are going to be run by adult pragmatists who can keep this nation going right down the center of the road. Don’t worry children Daddy and Mommy are in charge now and will keep you safe.

Hahaha... weird sense of humour you have.
And no idea what socialism is... try to read something about it, and see the differences between real socialism and the ideas of Obama.
You will find out Obama is a liberal... just not a conservative.
Those right winged conservative nutcases got you scared, didn't they?
Templar1307 (43 months ago | reply)
Thanks LukeDaDucke. I agree to a large extent to what you are saying. Obama is heavily tinged with socialist leanings, but if he was any worse, then he surely wouldn't have come close to even having a shot at the White House.
I read and listen a great deal and I do my own thinking and in the end come up with my own conclusions.
I'm only asking people to be watchful. There is nothing wrong with that. Thanks for your comment and for stopping by . =)

I would not put it past Obama to try and take guns in the first term. Anyone here seen his application for employment in his administration?
Question 59:
I will be watchful of Obama and his administration and their actions. Everyone should read this entire application - we should have had the answers to these questions from Obama before election day too.
Templar1307 (43 months ago | reply)
Thank you Charlene.
People are going out and buying guns as if the enemy were at the very gates. And God bless them! Buy all you can. For at least so that when they do pass further gun legislation, maybe you'll be grandfathered in.
Get lots of ammo too!
(The) Appleman (43 months ago | reply)
Ah, so now we're into guns! There are plenty of nice, playful weaponry over in Iraq....things that go bang, pop, wammo and such. These things do wonders for human body parts. If you're really into guns....sign up. Uncle Sam will supply you with all the fun "toys" you ever dreamed of. I know. I patched up the holes and gory messes on many fine men (actually boys) in Nam.
