On the new Saudi Arabian channel Al-Risala TV, an Iraqi cleric promotes violent jihad for two reasons: to take revenge on the West, and spread Islam.

It is one and the same. What was said there is being said here. If that was correct, then this is correct. If that was a mistake, then this is a mistake.
Hence, we have reached the following conclusion: The term “violence” or “Jihad” - or you could call it “aggression” or “colonialism” - means that you take control of the resources of others, out of economic or political greed. On the other hand, Islam does this to bring people to worship Allah, and to instate justice among all people.

As someone who supports the State of Israel and the Jewish People, I have no problem having a discourse and debate. When dealing with this particular issue, it can get pretty hot and it helps to keep it civil and interesting.
I enjoy the contribution that ZhengHe brings to the table. I do however; believe that he has a serious bias towards Israel that is common among others living in Egypt and the Middle-East.
ZhengHe posts about USA/Zionist conspiracies which do not exist. To be truthful, we haven't had a real pro-Israel Presidential Administration since Nixon. Everyone since has always used Israel as a chess piece and Bush is no different.
MEMRI TV offered a great rebuttal to the baseless accusations leveled by The Guardian.
I enjoyed ZhengHe's second link. I agreed with most of the quotes. I thought that they were fantastic. Some of Ben Gurions seemed either out of context or out of the ordinary.

Somehow this Islamic Jihadism talk always turns itself into the evils of Zionism. Why is that?
Islamic Jihadism has been the mainstay of the Muslim Faith since its inception. The only reason there are a Billion Muslims walking the earth is because at one point or another, someone had to make a choice of either convert or die under the Sword of Islam.
I will say for the record, that I also believe that there must have been a few people who willfully converted for their own person reasons without being forced, but those people are the minority.
Global Islamic Jihadism is not about Zionism, Israel or the Jews. It is about propagating the message of their prophet Mohammed to eliminate the infidels and bring about global islamic rule.
The only way that the Jews could figure into this world-wide drama is that they hold a special brand of divine stewardship of this planet. They have a special covenant with their Creator. With the Jews still alive and well, the Muslims continue to play second fiddle. They can not succeed until all of the Jews have been slaughtered. Only then will they be able to step forward as the new Chosen People.
Since this is their aim, they will surely fail as no nation has ever succeeded in destroying the Jewish People. They are here to stay. Woe to any nation who believes that they can succeed where so many have tried and failed so miserably.

ZhengHe, you are right when you mentioned all of the atrocities that the nations of Europe have committed to most every group of people on this planet. One could say that they were far worse than the Muslim invaders or Islamic Jihadist could ever hope to be. The difference is that the Muslim Conquests have never stopped. It is still continuing to this day.
I should say to you also, that I have gone out of my way to be civil and nice to you. Why do you consistently jab me with personal attacks? Is that how you try to get your point across? You ignore what is happening within your own people but lash out at others?
What I may or may not do to support myself and family should be of no concern to you. You are only trying to distract from what is really happening.
You do not have to be an apologist for Islamic Jihadists. You either support them or you do not. They appear to be speaking the mind of most every Muslim. I don't see a lot of Muslims condemning much of anything that is ever said or done by your brothers in bloody night shirts.

A debate of Islamic Jihadism (which we aren't even discussing) should have nothing to do with my vocation, which is primarily as a graphic designer and photographer. It makes no difference what I might do in my own time. I could care less what you do. Additionally, as you know little or nothing of anything else that I do, it would be better to leave it as my business alone.
You have consistently skirted this issue of Global Muslim Extremism. Perhaps you don't agree with it, or perhaps you quietly rationalize that it is accepted since the Western Nations had it coming.
I believe that there is no justification for their intolerance and violence.
How can we be so sure that these Islamic Jihadists aren't showing us one of the 2 faces of Islam? Just as the prophet mohammed showed us that he could be mellow and the other side where he is killing everyone in sight and crying out for the others to seek out the rest of the infidels and kill them.
I truly believe that muslims can live side by side with others peacefully, but only if they abandon 1/2 of their teachings. I can't expect them to do that. Therefore, the war the conquest will continue until they are held back in that final battle as in the Middle Ages at Poitiers.
Without a reformation, Islam shall always be at odds with its neighbors.

I agree with you concerning Wahhabism as it is much more extreme than any other sect of Islam.
As a Jew, I have no problem following on with the work of the Knights Templar as they refuted the divinity & resurrection of Jesus and strove towards the restoration of the Kingdom of Israel.
What I find most alarming among Muslim posters is their unwillingness to confront and discuss the issues which have be brought out to the light. All we hear is double-speak and diversion tactics to somehow swing it around to me.
I have traveled in the Middle-east over several years and have spent my fair share of time with the peoples of Egypt & Jordan. I have rarely ever run across someone espousing many of the views which I highlight on my Flickr account.
I believe that most people in these regions are wonderful people and would not take up arms unnecessarily against the infidels unless it was vitally important to their survival and sovereignty.
There are however, a considerable portion who do feel strongly that it is justifiable to wage jihad, killing any and all infidels and Jews that can be found. These thoughts and rages belong in the 8th Century. We all need to accept one another's differences and respect each other’s religious beliefs. We must strive to accommodate when possible, but never to build over or prevent access to religious holy sites.

As there are only two posters here, i would assume Sublime Knight, you are referring to me.
I would like to point out sir that i am not a Muslim at all. I am a white Anglo Saxon who's bloodline dates back to William the Conquerer and the battle of Hastings 1066ad. My great grandfather was a Worshipful Grand Master of the Ancient Scottish Rite. My position within the Craft or if i practice it at all ("breast to breast") is no ones business but my own.
I believe it was correct of me to give you good council ("mouth to ear") in this arena. The flickr community guidelines are quite clear Sublime Knight- please respect them.

ZhengHe usually insults all the people who try to speak with him about his views in the world, probably because he cannot deal with the argument on its own terms. That's because he is either knowingly spreading Taquiya -- which is deceit allowed by Islam in pursuit of Jihad -- or is simply wildly misinformed about his own religion.
Here are some questions for ZhengHe which he can either answer, or not.
Is Islam the only religion with a doctrine, theology and legal system that mandates warfare against unbelievers?
Is it true that 26 chapters of the Quran deal with jihad, a fight able-bodied believers are obligated to join (Surah 2:216), and that the text orders Muslims to "instill terror into the hearts of the unbeliever" and to "smite above their necks" (8:12)?
Is the "test" of loyalty to Allah not good acts or faith in general, but martyrdom that results from fighting unbelievers (47:4) — the only assurance of salvation in Islam (4:74; 9:111)?
Are the sins of any Muslim who becomes a martyr forgiven by the very act of being slain while slaying the unbelievers (4:96)?
And is it really true that martyrs are rewarded with virgins, among other carnal delights, in Paradise (38:51, 55:56; 55:76; 56:22)?
Are those unable to do jihad — such as women or the elderly — required to give "asylum and aid" to those who do fight unbelievers in the cause of Allah (8:74)?
Does Islam advocate expansion by force? And is the final command of jihad, as revealed to Muhammad in the Quran, to conquer the world in the name of Islam (9:29)?
Is Islam the only religion that does not teach the Golden Rule (48:29)? Does the Quran instead teach violence and hatred against non-Muslims, specifically Jews and Christians (5:50)?
Please answer these questions ZhengHe. Oh, and try not to throw insults around -- they only make clear that you are in over your head.

But you're forgetting something, and that is Israel, any way you look at it, is the exclusive birthright of the Jews and it always will be, you can rest secure in the knowledge nothing is going to change that. You need to realize you do not owe these people any argument or apologizes whatsoever. I'm with you, but I hate to see a brother waste his breath arguing with these people. Their situation will never change until they do one thing: Move out of Israel and into the surrounding Arab countries which are supposed to be such big supporters of them, yet who hippocritically refuse to take them in (at least for now) and never come back.

What you don't already realize is that Israel is perpetually holding themselves back from reacting and seeking vengeance. If I had any power, this situation would have been cleaned up decades ago.
As I understand it, it is the arab world and the bordering countries surrounding Israel who can not accept Israel's existence. You would think that after losing every war with Israel that they would get tired of the fight.
Until the day comes when people like you are no longer able to take up arms against Israel, the Jewish People will continue to do what is necessary to protect its borders and citizens.

I know that you couldn't possibly be referring to Eretz Israel. An active and thriving Jewish population has never ceased to inhabit the Land of Israel.
Also, if you are speaking of Israel, what sovereign nation existed there before 1948?
I can point back only to the Kingdom of Israel. Between these times, there existed only a caliphate and some meddling by the Romans and Greeks.
The Land of Israel has never ceased to be the Homeland of the Jewish People.
As nomadic bedouins, how can any Trans-Jordan arab person claim that any land is his, unless he either conquered it or purchased it in a legal and binding manner? Surely, the Fatimids did conquer Palestine in the 7th Century, but they could not hold onto it, which is often the case with those who pay no attention to the code of behavior which is mandated in the Torah. The Land of Israel will vomit one out, Jew or gentile, who does not hearken to the responsibilities which come with residence in the Holy Land.
Have you noticed how bad the lives of the Trans-Jordanian arabs have become since they began their careers of murder and terrorism in 1928? The violence has gone on almost ceaselessly since those dark bloody days in Hebron. If their cause was just and upright, and Allah truly supported them, wouldn't they catch a break once in a while?
No, as surely as I am sitting here, the plight will only darken for those who seek the destruction of Israel.

Where shall you go from here? There was a time when the Trans-Jordanian arabs could have co-existed peacefully with the Jewish People in Israel. Sadly, I believe that that time has long passed. One cannot go back from where we are today. The Trans-Jordanian arabs residing in Israeli-conquered lands are filled with hate and a thirst for the blood of their neighbor. They overwhelmingly support terrorist groups such as Hamas and Fatah. Their children long to be martyred in bloodshed. The time for being sensible and overcoming blind hatred has long receded.

Used to believe the hype, still spouted by Beeb and MSM, that Israel was a terror state but not any more. It goes through the same anxiety every day as that felt by Londoners last 7July; it's a wonder anyone lives there.
Unfortunately it's the Arab way to maltreat everyone, including their own. An estimated 70% of young muslims dream of living in the West and even palis are leaving Gaza to escape a deadend existence with rival islamist parties fighting it out, heedless to progress.
Back in 1880, Israel was a desert - why hadn't the 'Palestinians' made something of it back then? Because they weren't even there! Arabs only started to arrive in large numbers from neighbouring regions when there was money to be made, thanks to the hard work of the Jews who had escaped European pogroms.
