I had the good fortune to shoot with the incomparable Ian Plant in the Patagonia region of Southern Argentina and Chile a couple of weeks ago. This image was a blatant comp-stomp on my part which I have to admit I felt guilty, especially comparing Ian’s far superior composition, but my guilt lasted about 20 seconds, I had to get this shot in the tin! The early morning sky had begun with great promise, the clouds were beginning to fire up but before and direct light had hit the peaks the clouds on the horizon began to fill and I was left with the reflective glow. The subtle red glow actually went well with a longer shutter speed giving this image a somewhat surreal feel.
