today`s finds whilst digging in the garden

Amongst today`s diggings are some pieces of crockery, a heavy earthenware pottery piece, a pretty green tile and the remains of a child`s toy gun.

Lolli nearly going down the hole - It`s covered up now for safety.

I can see now what we have here.. this is the front of the old Anderson Shelter with the entrance facing the brick wall for extra protection. Where the arched back of it would be there appears to have been put some very heavy slabs of old concrete, no doubt to fill in the hole, if the back of it has already been removed.

There is still a cavity down there and although the entrance is quite tight Lolli had a go at digging down to get inside. Luckily I shooed her off and covered it up before she disappeared. She`s like a little Jack Russell, she dashes about the garden and is forever trying to get down holes and through fences. She`s as fast as the wind once she gets going.

This is the front part, with the entrance facing the wall. It appears that the mdidle section is missing and the hole filled in with heavy slabs of concrete.
