Black-throated Blue Warbler (Setophaga caerulescens)

    This HY male hit our nets mid-morning today, 9/01/07 and caused quite a stir among the banders since we have not seen one in a number of years. Sand Bluff Bird Observatory, Shirland, IL.

      This is my favourite bird. In Jamaica this bird is one of the most common migrants second probably to the American Redstart

      They are truly beautiful in coloration and very quick in their movements. We got lucky last year and netted 6 of them, in past years we don't see them at all. So when they do show up we too get quite a thrill. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
