On November 5, 2010, Mount Merapi erupted, destroying this village.
Painted on the ruins of several houses were poignant echoes of the
life before the eruption.
Stunning eh?

Reminds me of Pompeii. No people, but the artwork speaks.

as far as I know, the work was made by seth (an artist from France, during the recovery time after the eruption of Mt. Merapi). Seth made the sketch of the figures and the coloring was made by children (around 4 children who join Batik Course as part of healing activities for the children) of the village.
The figures (all there were about 5 - 6 works at some ruins) actually described family member who lived in the buildings before the eruption.
