(4/52) Don't Spend It All In One Place

(4/52) Don't Spend It All In One Place

(1/2) International Monetary Fund set.

Kathleen has a lot of foreign money from her trips around the world. Here we have some Chinese Yuan, some Russian Rubles, an assortment of small British coins, some coins from teh Czech Republic, I think a Canadian coin or two, and at least one piece from India. I could't get them all in focus at the same time, so you'll just have to trust me on this.

Look for next week's shot to be similarly theme.

Strobist:
1 sb600 camera right and high, 1/2 power, 1/4 CTO through home made 12'' snoot.
1 sb600 behind subject, underneath the desk and shooting up to rake the wall. 1/2 power, bare.

Triggered with Cactus V4s.

(3/52) Boss, I swear . . .

This is what Scout would look like if she had a real job. And if she got caught embezzling.

Bad dog.

Strobist:
1 sb600, in front of and above subject, 1/8 power, through shoot-thru umbrella.
1 sb600 behind subject, pointed at the wall, yellow gel, 1/16 power.

(2/52) Winter Has Arrived

(2/52) Winter Has Arrived

The first half of January here in southern Michigan has been marked primarily by low 40 degree weather and rain. This is highly abnormal. So yesterday, the temperatures finally dropped and we got a couple of inches of snow. It's not much (at least not on this side of the state), but it'll do.

Strobist:
1 sb600 camera left and high, 1/64 power (plus 0.7), through a white shoot-thru umbrella. (a simple piece of white poser board was used for the seamless background)

Triggered with Cactus V4s.

(1/52) Alternative Energy

(1/52) Alternative Energy

So for my first week, I'm back to my old tricks from my 365 project (e.g., I'm using lots of restricted light). I'm looking forward to experimenting more in the weeks to come.

Strobist:
1 sb600 camera left and behind subject, 1/2 power, 1/2 CTO, through cardboard snoot into the lightbulb.
1 sb600 camera left, in front of subject and high, 1/4 power, 1/2 CTO, through home-made speed grid.

All post work done in Lightroom 4.

(0/52) Announcement

(0/52) Announcement

This is more than a simple statement of mathematical certainty. This is an announcement of an impending project, one that I hope you will enjoy.

I tried my hand at a 365 day project back in 2010, and I did pretty well, but the reality of teaching in the Fall semester at my school was too much to handle, and I couldn't finish it. I think limiting myself to one photo per week next year will allow me the space and flexibility to actually finish what I started, this time.

So check back here in the first week of 2012. I'll have more to show you then.
