Money originated as commodity money, but nearly all contemporary money systems are based on fiat money. Fiat money is without intrinsic value as a physical commodity, and derives its value by being declared by a government to be legal tender.
The physical money supply of a country consists of free banknotes and coins. These demand deposits usually account for a much larger part of the free money supply.
Rich bank money is intangible and exists only in the form of various bank records, but still serves as a free money for wealthy people.

Yes you can, even if it said all rights reserved, they are not. Flickr is collaborating with Getty images and they stole the image from me and changed the rights to all reserved, here on Flickr. I have no power to change it back to public domain, because USA is the best country in the world and has the most honest companies in the world.
