Uma das 4 espécies de cobras venenosas que existem em Portugal e uma das mais raras.
É aquela cujas toxinas são mais fracas e não representa grande perigo para o homem. Atinge um comprimento máximo de 65 cm. De actividade crepuscular e nocturna, passa o dia debaixo de rochas, onde encontrei esta. Alimenta--se de lagartos e pequenos roedores.

One of the 4 species of poisonous snakes that exist in Portugal. Its the one whose toxins are weaker and its not dangerous to humans. It reaches a maximum length of 65 cm. Activite at twilight and night, spends the day under rocks, where I found this one. Feeds on lizards and small rodents.

A mais pequena das libélulas europeias (28 mm), está presente apenas nas áreas costeiras do sul de Portugal e Espanha o que a transforma numa espécie rara na Europa. O macho, todo negro, é inconfundível!

Rechonchuda, de cabeça arredondada, bico preto e laranja e "coleira" preta, tanto pode ser vista no solo a correr em grande velocidade, como imóvel tentando passar despercebida. Alimenta-se de invertebrados.

Chubby, round head, orange and black beak , black "collar", can be seen on the ground running at great speed, as motionless trying to go unnoticed. It feeds on invertebrates.
