Joseph's Coat Quilt Along

Petals are machine appliquéd... It was a very long process for this gradation placement. I think I mastered the art of machine appliqué.

Incredible work! Did you iron them all in place before you machine appliqued them?

    23. BahayKoobo (26 months ago | reply)

      Thank you!

Cabbage Quilts. I followed Kellie's process, then I used the white elmer's school glue when I applied the petals to the background fabric. Then heat set. The glue adds more stability to appliqué The only ironing done is when I heat set the glue.

For those of you that are curious about the glueing process (using Elmer's School House glue), check out Sharon Schamber's book or network. I have just checked out her website and a lot of the classes on this technique have been removed from the free area. But she does have a video about how to wash the block and remove the glue from the block. I believe she also has some free classes on Utube. But her book definately describes the process. She uses a very fine metalic (artist) tip on the glue bottle and gets a very fine line of glue and hits it with an iron - this stablizes the area for machine applique.
