Apple Newton MessagePad - Dock with an iMac

Apple Newton MessagePad - Dock with an iMac

Connected! Newton screen displaying the "Dock" connection (via Serial).

Now the trick to get everything "talking" between the Newt and the Mac is doing stuff in the right order:

Step 1. BEFORE YOU PLUG the Keyspan adapter into the Mac - launch the Keyspan Serial Assistant software on your Mac, the Snow Leopard compatible software can be downloaded from here: www.tripplite.com/shared/software/Driver/Mac-OS-10-6-v26b....

Step 2. Plug the serial cord into the Newton using the Serial adapter (keyboard dongle) which should be plugged into the Keyspan adapter at the other end. Plug the Keyspan USB into the iMac.

Step 3. Launch the NCX (Newton Connection) application on your Mac (the Snow Leopard software can be downloaded from here homepage.mac.com/simonbell/connection/NCX-34.dmg)

Step 4. Go to your Newton and from the Extras All Icons list find Dock and run this. Click Connect using Serial.
