PHL Nights

PHL Nights

I was planning on Aurora hunting the other night but came across some open gates at the Portland Head Light so a change of plans was in place. I think one of the greater frustrations of local photographers is the inability to get into the PHL at any time of day so I definitely couldn't pass it up. Heavy cloud cover thwarted my star trail plans but aided in getting some ambient light on the subject.

Click here if you want to see it biggest.

I thought I was done with Antelope Canyon pics but found this one loitering on my hard drive. I like this version much better than a more zoomed in version I had posted previously. I like the lines and light in the bottom half of the frame.

Nubble Light Sunset

Nubble Light Sunset

This ones from the fall. Holiday season is winding down at work so hopefully I'll find some more time to get out and work on some new material.

Death Valley Black and White

Death Valley Black and White

A black and white conversion from Badwater Basin. Hopefully my last conversion with Silver Efex 1. I was lucky enough to win a copy of Silver Efex Pro 2 through "One Daily Shot" photo contest (if you have never entered, give it a go here onedailyshot.com/ ) and I'm looking forward to taking advantage of some of the more advanced features and it's compatibility with CS5.

I'm in the planning phase of returning to Death Valley in March. Hoping to avoid the 128 degree temps and hit up some spots I missed the last time out.

Pemaquid Nights

Pemaquid Nights

Night shot at Pemaquid Point. I'm definitely still in learning phase for this whole night shooting thing but I love it when you are still figuring out new things every time out and you can see your work getting better every time. If I were to shoot this scene over again I would have done some focus stacking to keep the foreground sharp at f4.

Of course if I REALLY had it to do over again I would also add a D3s and a 2.8 lens...
