Back from celebrating St. John's festivities in Ciutadella (Menorca). Knackered but very happy, it's been a great weekend...
St. John's festivities in Ciutadella are very special, full of traditions and rituals. One of these rituals is the throwing of hazelnuts, which quite looks like a battle, although the tradition asks for throwing them in a gentle way to other people. Originally, men used to offer hazelnuts to their darlings, and later it evolved into throwing them to the girls they wanted to call their attention.
The symbol of the festivities is the white cross in red background I'm wearing in my waist.
