Those were the days....

This 1926 poster, with artwork by William McDowell was photographed in Swanage Railway Station's buffet car. It was produced for Southern Railways (SR) to promote their rail services connecting with Atlantic crossings by the ‘White Star’, ‘the World’s Largest Liner’. The poster shows an illustration of the 'White Star', seen from below and in perspective to convey the ship’s huge size, and an illustration of a Southern Railways steam train (number 453) above.
