Swimming in the North Sea

The Parc de la Villette (NE corner of Paris in the 19th) has many attractions for kids; we spent a few hours there last Sunday and it is definitely a little c approved destination!

    I prefer this version.

This is so cool Steve! You know that book "La Terre vue du Ciel" (it was called something like that anyway - by a French photographer who went round the world taking pictures from planes and helicopters)? Well, they had an exhibition of his photos at one of the parks in Brussels and to help people locate where the pictures were taken they put a huge map of the world on the ground. OF COURSE, my immediate reaction was to get a picture of Amélie running across it. None of my pictures came out this well though. If I ever get round to processing them, you'll see what I mean :-)

I do remember, around 2000 or so, those photos were up all around the Jardin du Luxembourg. It's lucky in fact that I had the camera at just this moment, because if I hadn't had it... well the photo would have been on Caro's stream, not mine. I guess it's around 40 that you learn to share... :-) Edit those photos by the way, going back to older photos is always pleasant as you are learning more about photoshop, because photos you thought unprocessable can reserve some pleasant surprises!

that looks so fun! when I was little there was a park near my house that had a giant map too. I loved it and used to play there all the time. Of course it wasn't of the world, it was only of the USA. Obviously in the US we are way too ethnocentric to put the rest of the world on our playgrounds!

Thanks so much for the comments and favorites. I wish I could favorite this photo. I had so little to do with it that I wouldn't feel strange doing so. I just took her over to look at the map and took out the camera. Rolling on it was all her idea, maybe because she's gotten used to amusing herself while the paparazzi flickr away. I don't really mean this last bit to be quite as terrible as it sounds, we can have great fun during photo moments and when there's not a camera in site, but the session with Madame Li (see previous photo for a link) has convinced me she is becoming very much more aware of her role as a model.
