View From Taipei 101

This is another shot from Taipei 101, the tallest building in Taipei city.

3 exposures HDR (-2,0,+2ev) handheld. Tonemapped in Photomatix. Added a curve to enhance contrast, and adjusted the mid tone level to increase overall brightness in Photoshop. Then, got rid of the halo along side the building's window tuning the exposure in that area to a little darker. (There's still mild halo showing despite my photoshop effort).

All comments and critiques are welcome. Thank you!

What floor is that on. Looks rather hairy. I'm a bit in awe of this building, as much because it is so tall and narrow and all the surrounding buildings are substantially shorter, adding to the tall poppy effect. Nice shot too. Looks kind of like NY.

Clicked through from your comment on dorli's picture, figuring somebody commenting on technique would probably have great photos...and I was right :-)
Wonderful colours, they give the picture a kind of "The day after tomorrow" feel... And a very nice reflection in the windows, showing even 'more' of the city.

Thanks for the writeup on your post-processing; always nice to know what work went into a processed image. Well done handheld!

Cool perspective as it gives the feeling of hanging from a rope on the outside of the building, I wish I saw some more street instead of sky but that's just nitpicking.

This is freakin' AWESOME...I wanna go back inside now, thankies...Great work dude!

Nice shot but I really doubt it was taken on Jan 1st, 2000. By then the construction of the building has just begun... so when did you actually take it? Can not have been that long ago... I see construction still going on in the major road leading towards the building... (I've been living there for 10 years and know the area a little...)

I'm not a fan of most HDR images because I often find them to be so garishly overdone. But this image shows how stunning an HDR image can be when process is masterfully applied. Excellent work all around.
