      ciborium? Holy smokes, we must be using this in 2 different ways, as I have used this exclusively with reference to the sacred vessels. This looks too big to serve in that capacity. But I'm sure you can explain this use of the word.

      Following the Oxford Companion to Christian Art & Architecture: "The ciborium applies to two quite separate things: (1) a domical canopy supported on four columns, covering the altar in Roman basilicas and certain other churches. It was derived from the canopy carried over Byzantine emperors. This canopy is now usually referred to in the West as a Baldacchino." The second meaning, is the now more usual, closed cup for containing the Blessed Sacrament.

      Sometimes, the ciborium (architectural) is called a civory, which is derived from the same word. I use them interchangeably, and prefer the word 'ciborium' to 'baldacchino' or 'altar canopy'.

      oh i love angels . i know the name of mine ..... i was lead to it, by asking and in the bible i found my guardian's name . it is SILOAM ... and now we speak with the name also.... the pool Jesus healed at , is my angel's name. i am blessed in knowing this. les
