The Rings...

I finally got my 100mm f2.8L macro lens and pulled this shot with the help of drunken.baby. It's pretty much straight of the camera with a little warmth added to it in Photoshop. One week to go.... congrats David & Rachel. I'm pumped!

It's been ages since my last upload. A few things have changed. Sold the 5D Mk II and now have a 1Ds Mk III… no more focusing problems here. Also acquired the 70-200mm ƒ2.8L IS II as well and damn it's sharp!

Anyways, got to fire up the new kit when my little niece and nephew came to visit us here in Sydney.
After a few hits and many misses, I ended up with this shot of Michi, a Californian Sea-lion that lives at Sydney's Taronga Zoo.

He was clearly the stand out of the seal show. … and from this shot of his cheeky grin, I think he knows it too.

More of Singapore

More of Singapore

Still in Singapore and more of the Marina Bay Sands, except this time round, the sun was very orange when it dipped. There was lightning, thunder and the clouds rolled in fast, bringing the rain with it. We almost walked away from this spot as the battle with the elements at one point seemed hopeless. But Bones and I persevered and we walked away not too wet and a memory card full of keepers... good times!

Marina Bay Sands

Marina Bay Sands

This is the S$8 billion resort located on 10 Bayfront Ave, Singapore. This resort features a 2,561 room hotel, also a convention-exhibition centre, The Shoppes mall, two Sands Theatres, an Art & Science museum, seven "celebrity chef" restaurants, two floating pavilions, a casino with 500 tables and 1,600 slot machines.

To top it all off, the resort has a 340m long Skypark that has a 3,900 people capacity and also a 150m long swimming pool.

I'm going to be staying there in a few weeks with Tina when she comes to visit. Hopefully I can get some shots of Singapore when we get a chance to visit the the Skypark. I'm really so looking forward to it and can't wait… but until then, this is as close as I'm gonna get to it.

Golden Hour

Golden Hour

I recently picked up a Canon TS-E 17mm f4 and what you see here, is my first attempt at shooting with it. If you didn't already know, its manual focus and is nothing like anything I've used before. Honestly, it's kinda nice to get back to playing with manual focus and it reminds me of my first Pentax film camera that I had when I was still in school. I still have yet to read the “user's manual" (who does?!) on how to use the tilt and shift and really unleash this lens potential, but I''m just having fun at the moment and I'll probably get around to it one day.

As you have probably have already noticed, the photo isn't as sharp as it should be and there's quite some barrel distortion, but it was a windy day and I still don't know how to use it, so that's always gonna happen! I suppose it's another lesson learnt and hopefully I'll be on top of it next time.

Also, I've finally sold all my Nikon gear and now just shoot with Canon L series primes… and I haven't looked back ever since!
