The morning of January 14th 2012 I got up at 5:30 am...thank goodness the sunrise is later in the winter ! I was out the door shortly before 6am to make the 20 minute drive from the hotel to this section of Jekyll Island, GA (USA). The cold front was still around so I bundled up and turned the heat on in the car and took off. South I drove and over the beautiful bridge along the way and made my left for Jekyll.
Once I parked the car I made the short walk to the wide open beach as the first rays of light were now starting to come out. I walked to the location I had scouted the previous late afternoon as a few locals walked by with their dogs and I anchored my tripod and waited, sipping on a good warm cup of coffee as it slowly became brighter.
I started shooting around 10 minutes before actual sunrise and I moved to and from at least 4 locations before shooting this scene as my last set. It was quite a colorful sunrise that morning.
