Discovery, the first orbiter retired from NASA’s shuttle fleet, completed 39 missions, spent 365 days in space, orbited the Earth 5,830 times, and traveled 148,221,675 miles. I wonder if they are going to put in the gift shop next to Star Trek's Enterprise? And I wonder if they will paint it terribly like they did the Trek ship?

Absolutely marvelous photo of Shuttle Discovery over the Washington Monument with NASA's 747 Pluto 95 and 98, the T-38 chase bird with the Astronauts aboard. Such a glorious time for the Smithsonian but so sad for us along the Space Coast to loose such a tried, true and trusted warrior! GOD SPEED, DISCOVERY and thanks for the memories!!

Brad- Nice retouch. Really makes it pop now. NASA probably should have spend a little time on these themselves. :-)

Thanks Hummer... I'm sure NASA was kinda busy yesterday and I was only too happy to help make their great photos even better.

This photo had to have been taken from the T-38 escort plane. Very Nice!
