Ha. An interesting political interpretation
of the photo. I was actually trying to
emphasise the flowers on this statue in East
Berlin to show that Marx still has some
supporters there.
I manipulated the image a bit to desaturate
all the colours except red which I made more
saturated. My intent was to make the flowers
stand out more, but there was a little
redness in the reflections of the hands which
also became amplified.
It is certainly true that these guys were the
inspiration of many things that were very bad
for Hungary. So your feelings as a Hungarian
are very well justified.
I assume also, that despite the flowers, most
people in East Germany feel the same.
Personally I think that in the context of
their time in the mid 1800's Marx and Engels
had some worthwhile things to say, despite
their being totally wrong about some things
like the historical inevitablility of the end
of capitalism in the West. And of course as
a democrat I totally abhor the tyrannical
methods of their followers.

I agree. The seeds of tyranny was in their philosophy. Anyways, Marx wanted to be a dictator and not a philosopher.
