Naga In Progress 25Jun10

Naga In Progress 25Jun10

A Naga: these are water spirits. The teacher Nargajuna, 400 years after the Buddha, went to the Naga realm. The Nagas had been entrusted with the Buddha Dharma, and Nagajuna visited them, and brought the Buddha Dharma back to the human realm.

This picture is currently being created, and more features will be added over time, such as snakes, more arms, and jewelry.

I am using Powerpoint (Windows XP) with Word Art and Autoshapes to create this picture. The heads, and the conch shell were copied over from previous pictures.

The One Thousand Arm Chenrezig

The One Thousand Arm Chenrezig

The One Thousand Arm Chenrezig.

Chenrezig is often portrayed seated with four arms. More complex pictures have 11 heads and 1000 arms, to denote the reaching out of compassion, and wisdom, to all beings who need it. Like the sun which always shines, even at night, it is obscurations of the mind that stop the true nature of things being seen.

This picture was originally created using Word Art, and Autoshapes, in Powerpoint (Windows XP), and saved as JPEG.

Due to the demands on computer memory, the outer 900 arms, aura, and background were created on a separate Powerpoint slide, which was then saved as a JPEG format picture, before being copied behind the 60 + 32 + 8 = 100 arm Chenrezig powerpoint slide.

After many attempts at creating an aura, from the elaborate to the not so elaborate, this simpler aura, in blue and bright green, is my most favoured one.

In pictures and thankas of 1000 Arm Chenrezig, the feet are normally depicted pointing sideways. I decided to depict forward pointing feet, although this is more commonly seen in statues.

Vajradhara

Vajradhara

Vajradhara: The Primordial Buddha.

When researching other pictures of Vajradhara, many of them had the usual elaborations present. I decided to keep things relatively simple with this picture, in order to convey some degree of clarity, simplicity, and purity which is essentially the Buddha nature.

Hungry Ghosts in Steroescopic

Hungry Ghosts in Steroescopic

The hungry ghosts. The two pictures were created from one picture, and the features moved slightly left or right.

Foreground features were moved more relative to background features.

By relaxing your gaze it should be possible to see this image stereoscopically.
