Gotta See How It Looks In "Tomb Raider"

The ruined temple of Ta Prohm was used as a location in the Lara Croft action flick, starring Angelina Jolie. It's easy to imagine how this centuries-old, overgrown Buddhist monastery, with its aura of mystery would make an atmospheric backdrop for Ms Jolie and her lips.

Treebeard Has A Long Rest

Treebeard Has A Long Rest

Looking like my idea of Tolkien's Ents, or tree giants, this enormous jungle tree spreads itself out and makes itself at home among the ancient ruins of Ta Prohm. This 12th century Buddhist monastery and university was overgrown by the surrounding jungle, as was Angkor Wat and the many temples surrounding it. When the encroaching plants were removed at the other sites, those at Ta Prohm were left as an example of what had occurred to the others. Its magical combination of sinuous jungle growth and collapsing masonry have made this one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Siem Reap area.
